How to host a Camping party for kids (easy, beautiful, and perfect for summer)

If there's one theme that's a hit in summer, it's Camping. Tents, lanterns, marshmallows by the fire, explorer backpacks... kids love the idea of becoming little adventurers for a day, and we love helping you set it up!

In this post, I'm bringing you super easy ideas to organize a Camping or Camp-themed party, whether it's in the garden, on the terrace, or in the living room. No complications: with just a few well-chosen elements, the party looks beautiful and has a natural and authentic feel that we love. Everything you see here can be found in our Explorers collection, so you can copy it as is.

1. Choose your palette: forest green, kraft, and touches of red vichy

First of all, as we always tell you, choose a color palette and stick to it. For this theme, we love combining natural kraft with forest greens, and adding a touch of red gingham, which gives it a very vintage and warm American picnic feel. With this base, everything you add will be coherent and harmonious.

2. The table: camper plates, compass napkins, and a touch of wood.

For the dessert table or buffet, we opt for pieces with a lot of character: the campervan-shaped plates are a sure hit, as are the hilarious sardine can plates, which always bring a smile. Combine them with the compass napkins or the camping adventure napkins, and as a base, a good red or green gingham fabric tablecloth that holds up perfectly for outdoor use.

Don't forget the wooden cutlery set: they're eco-friendly, adorable, and really enhance that authentic camp feel.

3. Create height with kraft boxes and raffia baskets

As I always tell you, the trick to any beautiful table is playing with heights. Here, the hand-woven raffia baskets are perfect for holding fruit, snacks, or even napkins, and the kraft cardboard trays add a very natural touch effortlessly. A beverage dispenser with a wooden base in the center looks great and also solves the drink issue so you don't have to be attentive all afternoon.

4. The cake and sweets, with a camping nod

For the sweet part, the Camping Adventure Cupcake Kit is one of those things that makes life easier: in a moment, you have an adorable and theme-consistent cupcake table. If you prefer something simpler and homemade, s'mores (graham cracker, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow) are a camping classic that always delights the little ones, and you can also use the vintage Swedish lollipops which are made of sugar without any artificial additives. They're delicious!

5. Decorate the room (or garden) without hassle

With a Camping Adventure garland hung at the entrance or above the dessert table, half the work is already done. Add some green and orange honeycomb balls at different heights and a raccoon or fox foil balloon, which look beautiful floating among the plants if you're having an outdoor party.

If you have a toy tent or can improvise one with a sheet and two chairs, even better! It's the corner the children will enjoy the most, especially if you put some cushions, a blanket, and the Explorers story projector flashlight inside for when evening falls.

6. Costumes and details for little adventurers

A cotton bandana around the neck turns any child into an explorer in two seconds, and it's an economical and easy detail to have ready for all guests. For the final gift, the camping backpack-shaped paper bags are adorable and work perfectly for carrying sweets, a sticker, or small treasures from a treasure hunt.

7. Activities: treasure hunt and badge workshop

To keep the little ones entertained, two ideas that never fail:

  • Treasure hunt in the garden or house, with simple clues and a small hand-drawn map. You can hide a piñata like the bear piñata at the end, the perfect finishing touch!
  • Explorer badge workshop: with cardstock, markers, and a safety pin, each child designs their own badge. Simple, inexpensive, and they take it home as a souvenir.
  • Rock painting: We collect stones of different shapes and paint them, creating colorful and super decorative artistic pieces.

I hope these ideas inspire you for your next Camping party. As always, everything you see here is available in our Explorers collection, so you just have to choose your favorite pieces and set it up in your own style. We'd love to see your parties, tag us on social media with #lafiestadeolivia!
